Shakespeare's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

By AC PRODUCTIONS

description

Following the success of last year’s bawdy “The Merry Wives of Windsor” AC Productions are delighted to present Shakespeare’s MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING at Project Cube, 13-25 August 2012

One of Shakespeare’s best loved comedies, it features the original rom-com couple; Beatrice and Benedick, who engage in a battle of the sexes using wit and barbed words as their weapons. Having given Cupid a headache by declaring they are immune to love, it falls to their friends to dupe the would-be lovers into coming together.  The setting is Italy in the 1960s. The jazz is cool, the girls are hot and the men are sharp.  Added to this we have love at first sight, love on first night, balls (masked!), trickery, marriage prevented, evil plots, rude gags, a scheming half-brother, the obligatory stupid cops, truth revealed and of course… happy ever after!

We are delighted to be working in Project Arts Centre for the first time. This is an opportunity for us to stage a great production.

The total budget for the production is 12,000 euro. We are raising money of our own and holding fundraising nights before rehearsal begins. Through this Fundit campaign we hope to raise at least €5000. This would cover all the design expenses of the show – in particular the sourcing of stylish costumes and set materials. The presentation is hugely important to the success of the production and we want to keep our standards as high as always and do justice to this wonderful play and through your donations you would be part of this exciting project.

WHO WE ARE
AC Productions was set up in 2004 by husband and wife team Peter Reid (director) and Alex Cusack (actress/producer). The company also has a regular group of dedicated actors and crew.   We always choose plays we fully believe in, that challenge and stretch us as a company. We set very high standards for ourselves, our track record of great reviews and audience reaction is testament to that.

We have produced all types of plays, from one woman shows to the likes of Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor with a cast of 20. We mostly stick to classics and have produced all the major works of Beckett, several Pinter and this year we are planning our third Shakespeare play. We have also been lucky enough to have toured all over Ireland, to London, Brussels, Prague and Hong Kong. Our dedication to performing Shakespeare has been strengthened by Bill Homewood (actor, director, tutor @ RSC) becoming one of our patrons.

Some of our Reviews:

“From a company more used to performing Beckett, Pinter and Friel, Shakespeare’s bawdy comedy may not seem a likely choice. But the freshness of their approach breathes new life into the text.” (Merry Wives), Derek Dunne, Le Cahier Elizabethain.

“ Peter Reid directs with an excellent understanding of the text, including empathy with its nuances” (Happy Days), Sunday Independent

“ Authorative acting directed with clued in excellence” (Faith Healer), Irish Times

Thank you.

Twelfth Night this summer 2013 at Project Arts Centre

Hello Lovely people! Hope this message finds you well. Lots of things have happened since our very successful run of Much Ado, which never could of happened without your very generous support. (We had some great costumes and the lads looked so smart in their suits!) In October we brought back our production of Waiting for Godot and were invited out to Hong Kong and Singapore by the great ABA Productions. It went down a storm and we did extremily well. It is always a delight to perform out there. Then, in the new year we got a huge surprise.. We got nominated for best production of our show PINTER X4 at The Irish Times Theatre Awards. We felt very privileged to be up there with the creme de la creme of Irish Theatre. And we all had a great night out to boot! This has boosted our confidence no end and we strive to continue to make strong classic theatre. We brought Pinter X4 back in February for those who didn't see it first time round. With a bit of a cast change (due to unavailability of some of the original cast) it went down a storm and I think we were successful in creating a fantastic theatrical event. So, our next project is Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Project Arts Centre were delighted with Much Ado last year and very happy with the crowd we pulled in that they asked us back this summer. We are running a Fundit campaign AGAIN.. And we have some great rewards this year, with the opportunity to get tickets for the show, yellow socks, the opportunity to come and see one of our rehearsals and, if you would like to advertise your business, the opportunity to do that in our programme. All this and more besides. I know you already supported us last year and perhaps that's enough.. but if you fancy coming back to support an even better show, we would welcome it so much. I know things are getting tough but the smallest amount could make a difference. Whatever you decide, remember you will always be remembered as supporters of AC Productions and you will always be on our programme list, no matter what! Here's the link! http://www.fundit.ie/project/twelfth-night-by-william-shakespeare Thank you again for last year. Many thanks AC PRODUCTIONS

Hello happy funders! Rehearsals are well underway now. And we are up to our eyes in preparation. We had a great fundraising night a week or so ago with Maeve Higgins, David McSavage, Gary Fitz and various other cabaret acts and managed to raise a bit of money which will go towards the printing of our posters etc. We will be in touch very soon with regards to your rewards - you have no idea how much you have helped with your donations, we couldn't have done it without you! Sorry about the delay in getting in touch.. We'll be on to you soon! Alex and Peter @ AC x

news..

Hi Folks Firstly, to all you funders out there who have been very generous in your support, a big big thankyou. It means a lot to us and it's a step in the right direction for the making and staging of this show. We still have a long way to go, so if you could spread the word, that would be great. We will get there... We have got a great design team who have now joined us. Some new young and very creative blood. Lets hope, with your help they will be able to bring us to a high standard. We are delighted to be working with them. Finishing the casting next week. We look forward to seeing you at the show and for those of you who live half way across the world, we will be sending you the news on how it gets on. In the meantime, take care and thanks again.. love alex and peter (and soon to be costumed cast!) x
