THE LESSON by Eugene Ionesco

By Zoe Reardon

description

Hello there potential funders,

My name is Zoe Ni Riordain and I'm the director of THE LESSON by Eugene Ionesco. The play is coming to the Project Arts Centre this May and we are looking for your help to make it happen.

We have put together a great team of people to bring Ionesco's dark comedy to the stage for the first time in Dublin since 1951. The project came about when myself and Lisa Walsh (Talking Shop Ensemble) discussed revisiting Ionesco's work, having worked on some of his other plays at Trinity College Dublin. Our passion for the playwright, and a desire to bring his work to a new audience has driven the project to the stage it's at now. There is a great creative team in place, a great venue, production support from Rough Magic Theatre Company, and all that is needed now is YOUR help to get the play to the stage.

We are looking for financial support to cover production costs which include set construction, insurance and promotional materials. Any contribution, big or small is greatly appreciated.

Help us bring THE LESSON out of the classroom!

Every day is a school day

The pupil has come for her lesson. Her exams are in 3 weeks..

The Professor has a lesson plan, but the Maid doesn’t like it.

As the pupil asks the big questions, the lesson begins to unravel and the pair get locked in a battle of wits and teeth.

Daniel Reardon stars as the Professor who takes the lesson too far.

Written in 1951 by Eugene Ionesco (Rhinoceros, The Chairs) THE LESSON is a classic of absurdist theatre. This dark classroom comedy asks us to question everything, and believe nothing.

Or does it?

ONE MORE DAY TO GO!!

Hi there, this is it-one more day to make it over the line. Thank you so much to everyone who has pledged so far. We can't thank you enough, so we won't try. All there is left to say is that we will do our best to make this a memorable production that warrants your investment and encouragement. We'll see you on the other side (of 2,000 euro). x THE LESSON team

Day 3 and we're a quarter of the way there.

Hi there funders, Thank you from the bottom of our scholarly hearts for investing in THE LESSON. Safety is expensive these days. Peace of mind does not come cheap. So one of the things we are raising funds for is our insurance policy. As the Professor says: "In this world of ours, one can never be sure of anything". ...But one can be INsured. Therefore, to make sure that our cast and crew are safe, we are taking out an insurance policy to protect them. We have raised enough so far for the policy, but I suppose we need the rest to build the set that they might injure themselves on.. Until next time. Every day is a school day. x THE LESSON team.

And we're off!

Hi there, day one of our campaign and we're delighted to get off the ground. We've got 2 weeks to reach our target of 2,000 euro. Your investment means a lot to us. Thank you to Ludovica, Dara, David, Adam, Una, Louise and anonymous for your contribution today. Spread the word. More info at our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thelessonionesco Every day is a school day. Love, THE LESSON team. x
